Date Night: Elegant

Elegant. Classic.
These words captures the date night look we created with our signature colour block shoulder bag.

With this look we wanted to explore a fun and feminine side so we chose to go with these really gorgeous pink court shoes (forever, awesome) and a skater dress.

What do you think? What other ways would you style this bag?

The Many Bags of the Modern Woman pt1

Everyone has different tastes, different styles and to be honest different lives. This is shown in how we put together outfits but more often than not there are certain constants in lifestyle.
This post highlights the accessories used to complement our wardrobe ensemble.

The ‘Work’ bag

This says I’m a boss. It’s a power bag that when you carry you know you’re on your way to make some serious moves. It completes your outfit so that you feel extremely confident as you go into meetings or make deals. Sometimes you want it to fit your tablet, laptop and folders so size should be taken into consideration.
Totes, satchels are different styles of bags that may be used as work bags. Joel Lani has a range in our collection that fit the ‘work’ bag examples.

Handbag or Hold all: What goes in your bag??

Black and red flap over hand bag
I know a guy that is terrified to go into a woman's bag even after he has been given permission. I have always find this to be very amusing and it gets me thinking what is he scared he will find?? So, ladies today's post aims to venture into the unknown for most guys but basics for women. I have to admit I am a bit curious as to how others pack their bags, for science of course.

I have always been of the Boy's scout motto when packing my handbag: BE PREPARED so it usually contains everything from pocket tissues to hand sanitiser to hand moisturiser, emergency make up and what not.

Check out the details on this!

I decided to do an impromptu photoshoot with a bag from the style of the week featuring the things I had in my bag at the moment. For me the contents were quite modest in number as usually when I carry bigger bags, the more I tend to carry.

So on a typical and random day I seem to have my phone, my tablet, a comb, earphones, car keys, wallet, make up: lip gloss, lip balm, lipstick and powder; a pen and an emergency tampon (Aunt Flo can visit at any time! and you might be able to help someone out too). I usually have a notepad and like I mentioned earlier pocket tissues, hand sanitiser and hand lotion as well.
This bag is my everyday bag and so the contents are aimed at day-to-day living.

What are the necessities in a bag? Is it suited to the wearer or are there common items every woman carries?

It can be carried as a cross body too

At Joel Lani, we consider functionality in our designs and this bag is well suited to keeping you stylish and carrying the essentials needed in your day.

Joel Lani friends: Blogger event

On a warm Sunday evening a little while ago, Joel Lani was privileged to host some amazing women.
They came in and got to know the brand a bit better and gave us their candid opinions on the different  products.
Our Creative director and founder, Adetoun Ajeigbe talking about the bags wearing the black snakeskin shopper

The guests were introduced to the phone pouches which they instantly loved as they knew how and where to rock it immediately, they loved the size and versatility of these pouches recognising they could put not only their phones but lipsticks, cards and money on night outs dancing as well as quick runs out of the house.

Some of them modelled the pieces with their items and with these set of guests it seems needless to say that lots of pictures were taken.

Some pieces were general favourites and instant hits including the wrist-held clutches. Some people found a wide range of products appealing and could hardly choose a favourite.
There was laughter, good conversation and everybody got a chance to talk about their preferences and what they like most about it. It was interesting to hear the different takes on the collection displayed.

You can check some of their accounts of the event on one of their blogs herehere and here.
